Conscious Eating
Conscious Eating is a meditative process that allows us to recognize early
hunger signals, make satisfying food choices and be aware of our level of
fullness. Learning this process includes Andrea’s guidance through
actual eating experiences to help you maximize your awareness of your body’s
signals of hunger and fullness as well as the sensory pleasure of taste
and texture.
Emotional Hunger can be identified as it differs from Physical
Hunger. An understanding of forbidden foods, deprivation, isolation, childhood
trauma around food and psychological abuse are explored as contributing
factors. Andrea helps her clients reveal the underlying issues that have
led to food struggles. Conscious Eating is a component of an approach to
disordered eating and distorted body image.
Andrea works with clients that
struggle with listening to their body signals, that suffer with eating disorders
such as Compulsive Overeating, Anorexia and Bulimia. By changing our relationship
to food and our body we can learn to listen and trust our body’s innate
wisdom. This work is done on an individual basis and in groups at Luminosity Studio in Concord, MA and in several
of the classes and courses that Andrea teaches.
